The next summer season Estonia’s national airline Nordica will launch flights to Romania, the city of Constanta, close to all Romanian Black Sea resorts stretching on a coastline of over 250 km, and to Ohrid, a popular summer resort in Macedonia.

Established approximately in 600, Constanta is one of the oldest cities in the country and currently Romania’s largest port. With its 280,000 inhabitants and rich history, Constanta is located on the Black Sea coast in a subtropical climate. The Romanian coastline has over 15 resort locations, with beautiful sand beaches and other attractions. While in the area, it is also a good opportunity to visit the picturesque Danube Delta, which is close by. Estonians will have an opportunity to take a direct flight to this wonderful holiday destination from 16 June to 29 September. At first, flights will take place only on Saturdays. Starting from 27 June, flights will also be made on Wednesdays. The flight to the destination takes 2 hours and 30 minutes and ticket prices start from 89.90 euros. Constanta is located 65 km from the Bulgarian border and 150 km from the golden sand beaches of Varna. When choosing Nordica’s destination, Estonian passengers have an opportunity to enjoy both countries. The Romanian Black Sea resorts stretch from the Danube Delta in the north down to the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast in the south, along 275 kilometres of coastline.

“This direct flight to the Romanian seaside is a great news and I am happy that following such fruitful cooperation with our Estonian partners, the conjugated efforts of the Romanian Embassy in Tallinn and the Romanian Ministry of Tourism, we have succeeded in making this flight reality. This should be only the beginning of our enhanced touristic and economic cooperation’’, said the Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Estonia, Mrs. Mihaela Cămărășan.

Ohrid, the most popular holiday resort of Macedonia, is located on the shore of Lake Ohrid and offers holidaymakers magnificent views of the landscape. Beautiful and romantic Ohrid is one of the oldest cities in Europe and is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The city is very rich in architecture: an impressive fact alone is that there are as many churches located in this city as there are days in a year. The location of Ohrid is convenient for holidaymakers: historic Greece is located only 70 km away and Albania with its beautiful and not yet discovered coast of the Adriatic Sea is situated at a distance of less than one hour’s drive by car. Nordica’s direct flights to Ohrid will take place once a week from 1 June to 14 September. The ticket price starts from 99.90 euros and the flight will last for 3 hours.

According to Alper Ersoy, TAV Macedonia General Manager, people are really looking forward to the Tallinn route to be opened next summer. “We are very satisfied that our Marketing Department in Istanbul managed to persuade Nordica to fly to Macedonia. Both the airport and the entire tourism sector in Ohrid will benefit therefrom,” Ersoy added.

According to Sven Kukemelk, the Executive Director Business Development in Nordica, the airline wants to offer its clients alternative destinations in addition to large metropolises. “Our goal is to search for different and exciting holiday destinations that could also offer Estonian people the pleasure of discovery and where the local price level provides an opportunity for an affordable warm summer holiday. A lot of people have been to Paris and Rome, but Romania and Macedonia with their fantastic nature and culture are certainly worth visiting. When choosing the destination, we also considered it important for passengers to be able to visit several countries at a time,” Kukemelk added. Flight tickets to both of the destinations will be on sale starting from 26 September.

Nordica’s summer routes have been very popular in the season that is coming to an end. Estonians’ favourites are Split and Odessa, but Nice and Rijeka follow them close behind. This summer Nordica services more than 20,000 passengers on these routes. Along with the six summer routes Nordica now has 20 direct flight destinations from Tallinn.
