Kristi Ojakäär to take up post as Head of Finance at Nordica on 1 February. Kristi Ojakäär, who has been selected as the new head of Nordica’s Finance Department, previously worked as the Finance Manager at Olympic Entertainment Group AS and as the Director of Finance for the Baltic States with Microsoft Estonia. She will be joining Nordica’s management board at the same time as assuming the duties of Head of Finance at the airline. An open competition for the post was held late last year.

Chairman of the Management Board of Nordic Aviation Group AS Hannes Saarpuu says that finding a good financial manager in Estonia is far from simple. “So we’re very happy that our long search has produced such an outstanding result and that one of the leading players in her field is joining us,” he said. “Aviation’s a fascinating business that changes and evolves so quickly. Financial management is without doubt one of the most significant jobs within the industry, particularly in a company that’s experiencing rapid growth. We’ve got a number of important projects on the go, so Kristi’s competence and contribution are very welcome.”

For her own part, Ojakäär remarked that joining the Nordica team represents a very exciting step in her career. “Aviation is quite distinct from other areas of business, and this is the first time I’ll be working for a state-owned company,” she revealed. “The experience I’ve gained in finance and the private sector as a whole over the years should stand me in good stead when it comes to making a success of Nordica’s operations and realising new business opportunities.”

Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Nordic Aviation Group AS Peeter Tohver says that Ojakäär represents a strong addition to the national carrier’s team. “Nordica’s in the development phase at the moment and financial management is the keystone of any business,” he said. “I’m really pleased that in Kristi we’ve found such a strong leader and member of the management board to drive the airline’s plans forward.”

Ojakäär graduated from Tallinn University of Technology in Business Management in 2001. She is married with three children.
