Flights to Kiev
Kyiv – an authentic, magnificent mecca for cosmopolites
Kyiv surprises first time visitors with its sincerity and honesty, offering experiences for all cultural connoisseurs. The amazing architecture, colourful history and delicious national cuisine coupled with hope for a brighter future make this, one of Eastern Europe’s oldest cities, a distinctive and intriguing travel destination. Draped in lilac blossoms in spring, Kyiv is just as special as New York when the cherry trees are blooming.
Kids & families
Kyiv offers superb opportunities for visiting with children, with its lovely parks, museums and interactive activity centres. The youngest family members have two different aquatic centres that are a must-visit – Dream Island in the heart of the city and, 12 kilometres outside of the centre, Terminal Water Park are exciting places for kids both young and old. These parks make for a good visit with the whole family, because they provide separate areas and attractions for each age and interest. Visitors can choose from a selection of different tubes, slides and pools.
When you visit the Terminal Water Park outside the centre, we advise going there with Uber – it’s inexpensive, safe and fast way to get your whole family there and back again.
Blockbuster Entertainment Centre
Rodina Mat – the Motherland Monument
Enjoy the architecture and amazing view – we recommend visiting the monument during the working days, when there are fewer tourists – and also enjoy the view from the highest platform.
Pinchuk Art Centre
Food, drink and nightlife
Order the vareniki dumplings and pair them with borscht for the best of Ukrainian cuisine’s nuance-rich flavours.
Depending on the distance, the Metro or Uber are good transport options in Kyiv. Buses, trolleybuses and trams may be in service less frequently, and they take longer to reach the destination. Ticket prices are very affordable in Kyiv, and so is Uber. There’s also a local alternative to Uber called Uklon, use the app to choose the car you want. Official taxi companies are on the steep side and as elsewhere, we advise being cautious, because drivers are adept at squeezing money from their customers.
Uber is a good option for getting around town. The prices tend to be low and many drivers also speak English, unlike the drivers of official taxi cabs. If using Uber, plan on an average of 15 minutes wait.
